Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1.25 lbs ground beef
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. Mix the beef, breadcrumbs, egg, and Worcestershire, then form into four oval patties.
  2. Brown the patties in a skillet for three minutes per side, then set them aside.
  3. Saute the onion and mushrooms in the same pan until softened, then stir in the flour to coat.
  4. Pour in the broth, return the patties, and simmer for fifteen minutes until the gravy thickens.
