Cookie Policy

What cookies we use on Barracuda Diner, why we use them, and how to control them.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They let the site remember things about your visit, such as keeping you signed in or holding items in your cart, and they help us understand how the site is used. We also use related technologies such as tracking tags and pixels, which work in a similar way. In this policy we refer to all of these simply as "cookies."

The Cookies We Use

We group the cookies on our site into three categories. The table below describes each category with an example.

Category What It Does Example
Essential Required for the site to work. These keep you signed in, remember the contents of your cart, secure forms, and store your cookie banner choice. The site cannot function properly without them, so they cannot be switched off. A session cookie that keeps you logged in as you move between pages, and a cookie that remembers your cart between visits.
Analytics Help us understand how visitors use the site, such as which recipes are most popular and where people run into trouble, so we can improve. This data is aggregated and used to measure and improve performance. A cookie that counts page views and records which links are clicked, without identifying you personally.
Advertising Used to measure how our advertising performs and to show our ads to people who may be interested in our recipes. These cookies may be set by advertising partners. The Microsoft Advertising UET cookie, described below.

The Microsoft Advertising UET Cookie

Under the Advertising category, we use the Microsoft Universal Event Tracking (UET) cookie, set by the Microsoft Advertising UET tag. This cookie reports back to Microsoft about actions you take on our site, such as visiting key pages, starting a trial, or completing a purchase, so we can measure how effective our ads are and show relevant ads to people who have visited us. Microsoft may use this information in line with its own privacy practices.

How to Opt Out by Category

  • Essential cookies cannot be turned off because the site relies on them to work.
  • Analytics cookies can be declined through the cookie banner, and most browser controls described below will block them as well.
  • Advertising cookies, including those from participating ad companies, can be opted out of through the Digital Advertising Alliance at https://optout.aboutads.info. To manage how Microsoft uses advertising data, including data from the UET tag, visit https://account.microsoft.com/privacy.

Controlling Cookies in Your Browser

Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. The exact steps vary, but you can generally find these controls in the privacy or security section of your browser:

  • Google Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Cookies and other site data.
  • Apple Safari: Settings or Preferences, then Privacy, where you can manage and block cookies.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies.

Please note that blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the site, such as signing in and checkout, from working correctly.

Managing the Cookie Banner

When you first visit the site, a banner lets you accept or manage cookies. Your choice is stored in an essential cookie so we do not have to ask again on every page. To change your choice later, clear your cookies for this site in your browser and the banner will appear again on your next visit, or use the Manage link in the banner.
