Ingredients

  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 4 eggs
  • 1.25 cups buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 vanilla beans, scraped
  • 4 cups buttercream

Method

  1. Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy, then beat in the eggs and vanilla seeds.
  2. Alternate adding the flour and buttermilk until the batter is smooth.
  3. Divide between three pans and bake at 350 degrees for twenty-five minutes.
  4. Cool the layers completely, then stack and frost with the buttercream.
